From the Blurb:
What if love is the key to all the stars aligning?
Book Three of A Conclave of Crimson: A Queer Vampire Romance picks up where Book Two ends and brings the events of a gathering of vampires to a dramatic conclusion.
Teal and Éric have exactly what they fought for — a chance at life together. But all hard-won conflicts come with a cost, especially of the heart, and the fallout has left Teal separated from his brothers, Gabriel and Moth, now back in the inhospitable fortress called Gehenna.
Éric, though head over heels in love with Teal, the ethereal young vampire with witch blood in his veins, has his own trauma — how to navigate the dynamics of his rapidly-evolved relationship with Vauquelin: now their romantic ties have been severed, and they all must live under the same roof.
But the boys are not the only ones trying to come to terms with the new normal that has ripped them apart. Clove must make a crucial decision. There’s a question he will pose to Vauquelin…the answer to which would rock the core of the vampire world.
A Conclave of Crimson is a Gothic, queer, horror romance trilogy with strong, dark academia vibes: it unites two literary vampire worlds (Gabriel Davenport and Beguiled by Night) into a multiverse, but can be read as a standalone. There’s more if you want it…
For fans of The Night Circus, Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, and The Song of Achilles, A Conclave of Crimson offers a unique character driven exploration of love, jealousy, and the dark magnetism of immortal desire.
About the Authors:
Beverley Lee and Nicole Eigener are authors of gothic horror, literary vampire fiction, and queer horror romance. Our close friendship resulted in merging our vampire worlds into one explosive multiverse trilogy, set in Paris: A Conclave of Crimson. We are devoted to telling the stories of our queer immortals, and we invite you to join us in our dark, velvety world of Gothic Horror Romance. We write on opposite sides of the continent (Nicole in California and Beverley in the United Kingdom), but we're never far apart.
More About Beverley Lee & Nicole Eigener:
How long does it take you to write a book? How long does each stage of the process usually take?
We started Conclave in August 2022, and finished final edits in December 2024. It's hard for us to say how long it takes to write any book, because as character-driven authors, we rely on them to tell us the story.
*
What is your favourite type of character to write?
Broken, messy, complicated boys who don't always make the best decisions.
*
Do you mine your own life for ideas, settings and/or characters? If so, please give an example from your current book release where you have done this.
We traveled in the U.K. and Paris together in 2023 to walk in our vampires' footsteps.
*
What is something you wish you had known earlier on in your writing career?
That each book is different...each story carries its own roadmap. Sometimes the story comes easy and other times it doesn't. We both know, as character-first authors, that when the story stalls it's usually because we're trying to lead them down the wrong path. When they dig their heels in, it's time to listen.
*
What do you do when you find yourself in a bit of a writing rut? Is there any strategy you find works for you to help the words start flowing again?
We go to other forms of creative expression: books, films, music. We're constantly on the search for inspiration, and we take regular breaks for aesthetics.
*
What is your favourite writing resource?
The Gothic in anything, the liminal spaces that exist between sunlight and darkness. The flaws our characters have that can ironically make them more loveable.
*
What authors or books inspire you the most?
We love V.E. Schwab, Anne Rice, Philippe Besson, and Madeline Miller's The Song of Achilles. We love authors who worship language as we do.
*
What's next for your writing?
We both have individual projects in the works which we can't speak of just yet, but there are whisperings of future projects. One thing is certain: we adore writing together and It will definitely happen again.
