When one wrong choice lands him in hot water, Josh Davis has no choice but to make a deal with the Devil. By signing the dotted line, he’ll never have to worry about being implicated in what happened that night.
Elizabeth Cain lost her parents two months before her sixteenth birthday. Per their will, to gain her full inheritance and attend the school of her dreams, she must first be married. When her adoptive mother approaches her with a solution to all of their problems, it’s an offer Elizabeth can’t refuse, even if she wants to. By agreeing to the arranged marriage, Josh and Elizabeth are thrust into a life much different than the ones they imagined.
Over the course of the next decade, they play their parts, make their required public appearances, and successfully fool everyone into thinking they’re madly in love… But not even the perfect ruse can put time on their side. With the terms of their contract coming to an end, Josh and Elizabeth are faced with deciding whether they were meant to stay together or end things once and for all. Elizabeth wants out, but Josh isn’t sure he’s ready to let go. When she invokes the Last Hoorah Clause of their contract, Josh has no choice but to join her on a weekend trip with her friends in Palm Valley—and maybe find a way to keep the woman he never expected to want in the first place.

More About Jensen Parker:
How long does it take you to write a book? How long does each stage of the process usually take?
For a first draft, 1-2 months, depending on how much time I can get away for myself. I usually start with a dialogue heavy, minimal description, screenplay format first draft. I can usually complete that in 2-3 weeks. Then I move into the manuscript first draft, which is generally another 2-4 weeks.

What is your favourite type of character to write?
A strong lead who is stubborn and flawed. I love when a character has flaws, even if they aren’t huge flaws, they have to have something. Everyone does. Also, I love a MMC who is down bad for his lady.
*
Do you mine your own life for ideas, settings and/or characters?
Definitely! Two of the towns in this book are fictional ones just outside of Charleston, SC, where I used to live. I even include a real restaurant in Charleston my husband and I love going to for breakfast (and he used to be a manager there).
*
What is something you wish you had known earlier on in your writing career?
Sometimes you’re going to spend your entire day marketing when you should’ve been writing so you can afford to keep writing. It’s not always fun, but it’s an important part of our jobs.
*
What do you do when you find yourself in a bit of a writing rut? Is there any strategy you find works for you to help the words start flowing again?
Take a break. Go for a walk. Talk with a friend or my husband.
*
What is your favourite writing resource?
Scrivener.
*
What authors or books inspire you the most?
Stephen King
Elena Armas
Under the Magnolias by T.I. Lowe
