Absurdities
Absurdities is a coming-of-age fantasy about a girl who must master her control over magic while dealing with personal tragedy. Along for the ride are two people with diametrically opposite views: the grandfather and patriarch, who believes in placing family name above self, and an Agent of Death who believes in individuality above all else.

From the Blurb:
In a world where magical prowess is the only mark of strength, humans are treated as second-class citizens due to their inability to access magic. The Warlocks hold all seats of power and firmly control trade and resources. What little power humans have can be taken away at any time by their Warlock overlords, and there is nothing humans can do to fight back. Until now.
With her grandfather's research complete, Lady Grace Ravelin must prepare to sacrifice everything she has, including her life, for a slim chance to gain access to magic and make the world a better place for humans. She finds an unlikely ally in an Agent of Death. Their friendship deepens, and his unconditional support makes her question her upbringing and shakes the foundations of familial loyalty. As the stains of blood deepen on her hands, Grace must find the answer to one question: Is loyalty more important than happiness?

More About Anagha Baheti:
How long does it take you to write a book? How long does each stage of the process usually take?
For my first book, Absurdities, I wrote the prologue and the climax about six years ago. Since then, I have been adding bits and pieces to the lore, but never got down to actually writing it. Until July 2022, that is. So, I'd say it took me about two and a half years to get the first one to the market, but now that I understand my writing process better, I hope to churn out one every 10 or so months.

What is your favourite type of character to write?
Strong female characters who are quite in touch with their feminine side, but not quite femme fatale. My characters are nice, and soft spoken, and they try to stick to their moral code, but they will take action to defend the ones they love, even if they struggle with their decisions later on.
*
Do you mine your own life for ideas, settings and/or characters?
Absolutely. Art imitates life. The family dynamics in Absurdities are heavily based on my own family.
*
What is something you wish you had known earlier on in your writing career?
I thought writing was the hardest part of being a writer. Now I realise how foolish that notion was.
*
What do you do when you find yourself in a bit of a writing rut? Is there any strategy you find works for you to help the words start flowing again?
I have periods of high and low creativity. When I am in my low phase, I try to read a lot. I do world-building and work on the lore, or I spend time on marketing. My desire is to keep myself productive even in my low phases.

What is your favourite writing resource?
Sanderson's masterclass. I skimmed through a lot of it, but it was very helpful, even to a pantser like myself. I also spent a lot of time going through many, many templates, and even developed some of my own, until I settled on the right one. I now use Notion. Plan to upload it soon.

What's next for your writing?
I am working on a DnD inspired action/adventure romantasy narrated by a thirty year old barbarian woman. There's world-ending disaster, a power couple, and a cinnamon roll love interest.
